Connecting Hong Kong's Young People with Zhuhai's Talent Policies

Talent & Youth

Vice-President, Alumni Association of the Hong Kong Mainland Students Association | Zhuhai talent ambassador representative

Examining talent policy from both sides of the labour market: Hong Kong young people's interest in cross-border careers and Zhuhai's demand for skills. Her comments address information gaps and mismatches between university students and postgraduate talent in Hong Kong and employers in Zhuhai. They consider how sustained links among youth associations, talent platforms and employers could turn short visits into internships, employment, entrepreneurship and longer-term opportunities.

As Vice-President of the Alumni Association of the Hong Kong Mainland Students Association and a Zhuhai talent ambassador representative, she continues to take part in exchanges connecting Zhuhai with universities in Hong Kong and Macao. This work links Hong Kong's youth networks with Zhuhai's talent policies, helping policy information, industry needs and young people's aspirations inform one another more directly.

Hengqin: From Supporting Macao to Institutional Innovation in the Greater Bay Area

Greater Bay Area & Regional Development

Group 1 leader, “Greater Bay Area Action” programme

Examining the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin through its central objective of diversifying Macao's economy. Four priority areas—technology research and advanced manufacturing; Macao-branded industries including traditional Chinese medicine; culture, tourism, conventions, exhibitions and trade; and modern finance—extend the scope for Macao's economic development. Alongside these industries, employment, entrepreneurship, public services, social security and cross-border flows are progressively being incorporated into arrangements for closer integration.

Hengqin also raises questions for Hong Kong and Qianhai. Rather than simply replicating Macao, it starts from Macao's development needs and uses joint planning, development, management and shared benefits, together with regulatory and administrative coordination, to make institutional differences under “one country, two systems” a resource for cooperation. Qianhai places greater emphasis on Hong Kong's finance, professional services, technology and international market connections. Both approaches ask how cooperation in the Greater Bay Area can move beyond visits and individual projects towards institutional coordination in regulation, professional qualifications, public services and cross-border flows.
